Since her triumphant New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2005, Simone Dinnerstein has been a pianist on the rise -- and one who has managed to carve out a career in her unique manner.
Dinnerstein has eschewed the normal path of success on the international concert stage -- that of winning competitions -- by simply giving fantastic concerts and making recordings, which at first she self-funded.
Today, Ms. Dinnerstein's career is like a fairy-tale of sold-out concerts world-wide and recording contracts while she still makes time to develop and run a concert series, the P.S. 321 Neighborhood Concerts at the Brooklyn public elementary school that her son attends and where her husband teaches fifth grade.
In August 2007, Ms. Dinnerstein released her debut solo CD on Telarc, a recording of the Goldberg Variations which earned the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Classical Chart during its first week of sales.
Her performance of Bach is hailed as a tour de force. London's The Guardian proclaimed, "In Dinnerstein's accomplished hands, there was no doubt that [Bach's Goldberg Variations] are the province of the true musician rather than the mere pianist."
