What do you get when you mix together a handful of Philip Brunelle, a dash of VocalEssence, generous servings of vocalist Jearlyn Steele and pianist Rich Dworsky all topped off with a heaping help of Garrison Keillor?

A great night of music and a lot of laughs.

That was last night's concert of the collective creativity of some of the best in the biz right here in our midst coming together to give thanks this season in "Gratitude, Gravy & Garrison."

It was a cornucopia of something old and something new, including new comical lyrics to favorite songs by Keillor.

Garrison gave one of his signature monologues and invited two Prairie Home regulars - jazz vocalist Jearlyn Steele and pianist Rich Dworsky.

VocalEssence sang with their usual joy and ease in two world premieres by the Los Angeles-based composer Matthew Brown with lyrics by Garrison himself.
