Tune in to Classical South Florida for holiday specials all season long. We'll be celebrating Chanukah, Thanksgiving, Christmas and more! Starting December 9, tune in for the Noontime Noel, featuring a different holiday special every weekday at noon until Dec. 23.

Giving Thanks

Classical music is the heart and soul of the original Giving Thanks. This year features a tribute to Bach, including Simone Dinnerstein; Eric Whitacre's gorgeous setting of e.e. cumming's i thank You God for most this amazing day; and Dawn Upshaw sings Maria Schneider's breathtaking new setting of Winter Morning Walks by Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, who introduces the poem.

Thanksgiving with Cantus

Cantus is one of the premiere men's vocal ensembles, and with Alison Young, they talk about the holiday, music and food. This year's special presentation will focus on the importance of heritage, including works from the Sacred Harp, Lakota Wiyanki by Herrington/Woodside and is the premiere of Psalm of the Soil, by Sarah Kirkland Snider.

Eternal Echoes for Hanukkah

Host James David Jacobs joins together with violinist Itzhak Perlman and the New England Conservatory's Hankus Netsky, a pioneer in the revival of klezmer music, to explore the musical common ground of Jewish sacred music from diverse cultures. Featuring performances by Itzhak Perlman in new, unique arrangements by Netsky, the director of NEC's acclaimed Contemporary Improvisation department and the founder of the world-renowned Klezmer Conservatory Band. The Rose Ensemble of Minnesota has put together a program of dazzling, passionate music for Christmastime in the great variety and range they're known for. Slavic Wonders is an engaging and curious mixture of chant, carols, and glorious polyphony. You'll hear everything from soaring sopranos lines, to the signature slavic sound of rumbling basses. Handel's Messiah

In 1742, exactly 270 years ago, the first performances of Handel's Messiah were heard in Dublin. Each year the Dallas Bach Society offers exceptional performances of this landmark work of Western music in the Meyerson Hall in Dallas, arguably one of the finest concert halls in the world. This Messiah is historically informed in all the best senses: compact performing forces; period instruments; and generously expressive singing and playing. This program brings listeners the Christmas portion of Messiah along with the triumphant Hallelujah Chorus.
